still scattered...

across two counties... two houses... one storage unit... and I am ssssooooo fussy!!!!
Still, I think I have a basic idea of what I want the studio space to look like even if it is just in a spare bedroom right now until I can get the outbuilding put up. That is looking more and more like a late spring project!
One major thing that I have found out about myself is that I packed up lots of worthless crap when I was boxing stuff up that should have been put to the round file. I am SUCH a pack rat.
Though I have found a few pair of knitting needles and some of the yarn. The box of carded wool (with drop spindle) and the parts to my desk have made me happy and look like the project for the next couple of days while the snow threatens.
Trying to make myself settle down and finish up what is on needles. I have six one row scarves, two hemlock ring blankets, one hemlock ring doily, two pair of socks, and a tea pot cosy on and no urge to finish anything!
Well, I suppose that is what happens when you are dashing from dr to dr. The 12th is when I have the biopsy done. I am certain that I will settle down the flitting around after that.

Thanksgiving Eve?

Here is hoping that everyone is warm and setting up to enjoy their families. Prayers and best wishes to those who are having harder times than I am. Hard times are no fun at all. Still they are a fact of life I guess.
I have made some nice chemo caps that are going to the cancer treatment center this weekend to keep some bald heads warm. I was making one for Bethany and got all carried away ! I still feel the urge to make another mans cap. Looks like the drive will be a productive time for all that knitting since I don't drive myself. DH does all the driving and even puts up with yarn all over the car!

chaos

is not just some group of bad guys from the man from uncle. Sometimes it is a place that can only lead to creation. My frustration with the obsession that so many have with the mass produced "individuality" has become almost toxic. I suppose it is the reason that I left the RenFairs.
Once upon a time...awhile ago... in a land we made up for ourselves....
artists reigned ! Our kingdom was our market place. We produced what we sold during the year and also demonstrated our skills for the general populace to become entranced with. Often teaching classes during the run of the show. Then came the dark plague upon our lands. Imported items of low overhead and mass production produced by slave labour in lands far away were allowed to be obtained and sold in the market places for low cost and low standards.
Not being able to demonstrate the making of these things, merchants petitioned the King to release them from the requirement. Thus the general populace came to find that the show was not what they recalled and eventually the magic of art and handcraft was replaced by the cheap and plentiful. Slowly the artists drifted away in their caravans to the quiet corners of the land where the magic still lives but is often overlooked by those who do not create in their own life.

gaaaahhhhhh!!!!!

Still have not heard from the hospital about when the biopsy is to be done. I am a nervous wreck.
So I bought some silly foofy purple eyelash yarn to work up with some black for a witch hat with ear flaps to wear! Either for myself or I will donate it to the cancer project for someone with a spark of silly to use.
Still no camera... still no personal computer. Medical care is an expensive hobby.

well... back to the knitting blog with no pics...

still I am having a wonderful time with the lace knitting. The Hemlock Ring KAL is wonderful fun. Once you get past the urge to read the instructions ahead instead of just knitting them as you get to them. I made one in a heathered grey that is just beautiful. I have one on round needles now that is in a green baby weight acrylic (gasp>>> ok... it is for a baby and one that is going to get lots of use by a young mom) that is going to be just to cute.

Nest I am going to put some of the silk in my stash to use for a lovely cowl for daughter #1 or #2 I am not sure which yet. At least that is the plan now.

broke camera and borrowed computer...

but needles are in hand and I should have something new posted by weeks end. I am still working with the hemlock ring kal and the results of this sweet pattern are a wonderful blankie.
I have it made up in grey and one in baby weight in green on the needles now.
Thinking of making a sweater next... maybe one of my OLD patterns from the fifties or sixties?

Yay!!!

I am home for a couple of days!
Don't get me wrong. I am really loving the travel time I am getting in, but to bathe in my Own tub is such a treat! (how pink is that!)
One good thing about road tripping is that you have lots of time to make lots of stuff.
Baby blankies, neck scarves that feel like bankies, kitchen sets, all that Grandma kind of stuff, knit and crochet my needles are going. It makes the time between meetings go.
I will post some pictures later tonight. Right now I am going to do the laundry.

felt milinary roses

starting to learn how to make milinary roses. These are felt as I don't have the money to waste on making practice work with silk or leather right now. My camera skills as usual are awful. The DH is going to have to take a new set of pictures for me.

Itnit he cute

I know that I promised a picture weeks ago, but I had to wait until he was toasted enough to crash hard so I didn't wake him up. This was after a long hard days play with Muggsie and Bailey. Everyone was bouncing about the waterbed and then in almost one breath they just fell over asleep.

Tornados in Woodland Park?

Who would have thought it. But I have a picture ... then I dashed downstairs. We had two yesterday. I have it backwards as they were on the ground then gone into the cloud again.

Having a rough week...

and doing much of nothing but more medical testing. Tomorrow I think I am going to try to get back on schedule with my crafting something.
I lost the bid on the little green house as it isn't up to code. That only means that I have to look for another really cute little house that I love. The adventure continues.
Dear Husband is trying to insert logic into my cute house search by reminding me that I should really look at ranchers. As they are easily adaptable to be handicap accessable. He is so full of chili beans that I should wonder if it isn't a bad case of heart burn.

Monday, June 11, 2007

Well,

I am finished with the mri and feeling the after affect of the contrast a bit. (you fill that blank in as yucky)
Today was really great fun though. Wandered through the Ben Franklin, went to coffee, sat out in a rain storm, chatted with my best cousin Mary. It was a great kind of a day.
Tomorrow I will put the even feed foot on my sewing machine and make that banner that I am behind on. Then it will be play time for me.
Fuse some plastic bags. Plant some iris and tiger lily. Make a tam or two.
Try to stick to the work schedule that I have made for myself... well... I can try.

grey shawl... finished at last

The ruffles are a mistake but I really like them.
She is a warm and wonderful companion to a good cuppa in the morning.

Garden Party Tam

Crochet Tam with central posey motif. I have been on lots of pain meds lately and the knitting counts have been hard for me to keep up with. Though I did finally finish the grey shawl. I put a ruffle on the bottom edge instead of a simple lace (because the meds messed the count up!) and I really liked the way it came out so I left it that way. I will post a picture of it tomorrow.

Here is the starfish tam

It is crochet in many different fibers that I had laying about. Several different colors including black and teal that you can't really see because the batteries in my camera decided to crap out with this last picture. Though I think I will post the face side later tonight with the dimensions.

It is up for sale on my Etsy site. 1makerofstuff.Etsy.com

another run to the er...

that could have been handled elsewhere. Now I have my own nebulizer and think that I can handle most of what life throws at me.
The lungs feel a bit worse for wear, and I have enough steroids in me that I am yelling at the furniture. Plus side is I am getting some stuff finished up. Other stuff started. Ideas popping up around me. I like that part of the process.
I may not post for a couple of days because I want to finish the shawl, and post that.

no pic today

as I need to get back to the packing up of stuff. I am finding that packing up with an oxygen tank in tow has slowed the entire process way down. Still it is coming right along in a slow kinda way. Any progress counts. Looking forward to a break and hafla this weekend!

That is what she looks like...

That is what the little house looks like from the street. Soon to be the place of homie goodness.
It's just really a pic of the sun porch and attic but she has lots of possibilities.

Grey Shawl

I found "The Secret of the One-Skein Shawl" on the Knitter's Review and thought why not give it a go... and a go... and a go... and third skein in I think I will finish it off. It is knit up in Caron's simply soft grey heather as that is what my DH brought me when I wasn't feeling well one day! Who wouldn't love that. I think that she looks lovely on the deck off the front door, yes, that is the front entrance to the neighbors house... why I need oxygen!!!! LOL I think she will look equally lovely in a book store with a cuppa, or my new/ old sun porch!

Just words today

The packing of boxes is coming right along. I plan to take a picture of the shawl in progress later this afternoon as the sun becomes a bit brighter on the deck, so I can get a better pic. I am on my third skien of yarn and will probably end with this one.

The only thing I am going to miss about being here is the view. In town I won't have the horizon views. Though I think I will get out to see the sights more often because of it! LOL

The booties are up for sale at www.1makerofstuff.etsy.com

Looks like...

I am going to have to make a photo station soon. A new camera is in my future, but the move comes first. The bullion roses just don't come out for me, and they are SO pretty in person. Must have more light!

correction

above left is top
above is middle
below left is below
today has been long... I am going to find a cuppa and the fire

Looks like I am a posting fool today...

Isn't this a fine way to spend a spring day. No wonder it is flooding down stream. Top left should be about 8am. Above about 10am. Bottom left about 1pm. All melty and stuff... then the clouds came back. The snow returned. To be continued. Right now it is snowing hard and foggy.

ok... added a blog

www.ColoradoSpringsEtsySellers.blogspot.com
I think that I have gone stir crazy from the snow. There has been a 70 breach in the levey in Pueblo, due to the amount of run off from the snow. Snowing hard again.
Etsy has become my solice today.

Because I felt that this would be fun...

www.ColoradoSpringsEtsy@googlegroups.com
I will be having a meeting at my home (reminding people that I have furbearers) on the third Saturday of the month in the afternoon. Please contact me for further information.
The goal is to help promote those that craft and market their own stuff.
Getting off the computer before the power goes out again. Should be stable by tonight. Then I will post more pics.

I think it is time for the snow to stop...

somehow snow in May is just wrong when all I want to do is play in the dirt!
Because of the snow and the rain I didn't get any photos of the house to put in here. So I will take some more pictures of stuff to put up tomorrow.

packing limbo

does not mean you have to dance under a stick with the plates on your tummy!
I will be happy to move down hill where it isn't snowing half the day still.
My heart and best wishes go out to those who were caught in yesterdays bad weather patterns.
I may not be posting really routinely for the next few days as I get it all packed up and transfered from here to there.
But I will be thinking of you and all the beads and stuff that are in that pile of boxes somewhere and if I could just find it I could make it into ... well... something... you know?

Okay... Got the cottage!!!!

*doing the happy hippee houseie dance* We got the house! She is a lovely little house. With a south facing sun porch for the winter time and rainy days! She was built in 1927 and will have no greater enviornmental impact than she has already had. Next roofing will include solar technology! The yard is small enough that I can tend it unaided. Am I smitten... You Bet Cha!
David likes her enough to let me follow my love for it. Sometimes husbands are the most wonderful creatures. I personally think I got the bestest one.

May Day

We had some gentle rain and nice temps. I am hoping that Spring has finally arrived in the Rockies. Everyone needs a bit of spring in their steps today.
Good news on my medical front (and back too!) and I am a happy girl.

Bags

Got the ends woven in and a found fabric for a liner. Should have the liners sewn in by Monday. I am happily getting the ufo's finished up then it is on to the reduction of stash and finishing the in process things that can't even really be called unfinished that are lying about in boxes.
I am likeing the way it feels to get it put behind me instead of waiting for that someday. Besides it gives me something to do in the never ending dr. appointment that my life seems to have become! That reads awful in print but I am enjoying myself.

Etsy

I haven't the skill yet to add a link to my etsy account here. So I am going to put it in the post and hope that the crafter fairies are happy with me.

The main reason for the blog is to get me to upcycle all the fun things that I wanted to try doing and finish all the ufo's and get them new homes.

http://www.1makerofstuff.etsy.com/ is the link to the etsy site.

These are some of the knit bag ufo's done on double pointed needles.

look it's a picture

ok, this is what snow looks like off my front deck.
the large white lump on the left is what passes for our sail boat. Poor sad cold boat. Though she gets new rigging as soon as it warms up enough that anyone wants to go outside long enough to do this thing. It isn't your eyes playing tricks on you, the property really is that steep.

now you see it...now you don't

24 hours of snow and the blizzard passed. We had about 2 feet of snow on the front deck. Right now it is 3:20pm and there is no snow on the deck, the drive way is clear, and what passes for dirt is showing through in places. Springtime in the Colorado Rockies is a thing of wonder. Like I wonder what it will do next???
I am going to keep at this until I figure out how to post a picture today. So please bear with me.

Will this winter ever end...

Hey Mom Nature...
It's April 24th already, what's with the blizzard conditions? We have nearly two feet of the stuff on our property, and it is blowing and snowing hard still.
I Want Spring! (insert much stomping of foot here)
Guess I am going to curl up with my blankie and a hot cuppa and knit.

Another Earth Day

has come and gone for most of us. Those of us that are still old tree hugging dirt junkies are going to keep it in our hearts and veggie beds.
My favorite thing to do is upcycling right now. Taking something that would have been deemed land fill and making something new of it. Many call it garden junque. Old pots become toad homes or bird houses, plastic bags become purses or tomato bags, pop bottles become spot watering systems in a zeric garden or perhaps just wonderful art in the hands of children.
Some of this probably comes from being married to my garbage man!
Part of the recycling is coming in the form of buying an old house instead of joining in with the habitat distroying new home craze. Being farm raised and finding it tract houseing as an adult scared me.
So right now my choices are a Two story Victorian built in the late 19th century, or a bungalow built in 1927 which was a real kick to find out as I thought it was built in 1935. I am pulling for the bungalow right now as I think I can afford the utilities there. Though the Victorian is drop dead gorgous.

over medicated...

but happy! Dear Husband is letting me pick out a house that is all cottage/craftsman kind of styling. I am having a wonderful time with it. Narrowed it down to a two bedroom that I absolutely love (though the computer room/office will be in the old coal room) and a humongous three bedroom Victorian, both are just blocks from each other and it is a toss up!

Here comes the snow again

looks like we are going to get a good old fashioned spring blizzard. So I am cuddled up in my favorite comfy chair and knitting a new shawl. It is really basic and a good pattern for learning to yo.

Happy Easter

I am still not able to get the camera to work so I am going to find someone that can help. Post should happen by Monday.

testing...

this is just a test to see if I can really get this up and running or not. Computer klutz but trying to learn it. Mostly I am a self discribed maker of things. (otherwise know as stuff) I live in Woodland Park Colorado. I overlook the valley and the back of Pikes Peak. I am learning to live with my MonSter and still keep my identity. I have a passion for fibers and interior design. The look can only be called egg-centric (it is after all spring) flower garden cottage country beach house lodge. This all comes about in a search for keeping the spirits up while snowed in for three months this year. Next I will try pictures!
